Why Meters Matter (CPC Billing)
Why meters matter (CPC / Cost Per Click billing)
If your office is on a Noetics MPS contract, the monthly invoice is calculated as:
(Pages printed this period × cost per click) + Base service charge
"Click" and "page" mean the same thing in this industry - one click = one printed side. A 2-sided document is 2 clicks.
Why the dealer (Noetics) needs accurate reads
- Your monthly invoice is built from the page counter on each device.
- Toner reorders trigger from the toner-level reading, not from a date schedule. Bad reads = late toner.
- Quarterly business reviews compare actual volume to your allowance pack. You want this conversation grounded in real data, not estimates.
Black vs Color counters
Color devices keep two counters - a black click counter and a color click counter. The two are billed at different rates because color toner uses 4 cartridges per page versus 1 for black. Look at any recent Noetics invoice and you will see them as separate line items.
What a "click" actually counts
- One side of an 8.5 x 11" or A4 page = 1 click (most contracts).
- Tabloid / 11 x 17" or A3 = 2 clicks (it's twice the area).
- Wide-format square footage (KIP, SureColor) bills per sq ft, not per click.
- Faxes, scans, and copies all count. Anything that runs an imaging unit is a click.
Bottom line: the meter is the basis of your bill. Whether it's collected automatically (DCA) or you submit it manually (NETLESS), getting it right matters.
